Extraordinary People- Portraits by Yousuf Karsh
If there is one portrait photographer that stands out from the 20th Century it's definitely Yousuf Karsh. With over 17,000 hero shots under his belt it is no wonder by he was the chosen photographer among some of the most influential people of the world including Andy Warhol, John Steinbeck, Pablo Picasso and Winston Churchill.Yousuf's pieces somehow get behind the facade of the person at hand and bringing out raw emotion behind each expression.
The MMA exhibit hosts just a sliver of his works. Over fifty international icons are currently on display each with their own story and raw emotion behind the extraordinary person.
Ansel Adams- Visions of Grandeur
Rugged Californian and Western landscapes are captured in Ansel Adams' exhibit titled Visions of Grandeur.His black and white photographs somehow portray modern qualities with his ability to strike a harmony with sharp textures and genuine landscapes.
The rare photos are part of a donation to the museum of Virginia Adams in honor of Margaret W. Weston and Ansel Adams work with the Weston Gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
